EÚ a Spojené kráľovstvo po dlhých a zložitých rokovaniach uzavreli 24. decembra 2020 dohodu o obchode a spolupráci. Od 1. januára 2021 sa táto dohoda uplatňovala predbežne, kým Rada a Európsky parlament neukončili ratifikačný proces. V rovnakom duchu ako ďalšie nedávne dohody o voľnom obchode obsahuje aj táto dohoda osobitné ustanovenia o dialógu s občianskou spoločnosťou. EHSV ako kľúčový aktér tohto dialógu s občianskou spoločnosťou preto rozhodol o inštitucionálnej štruktúre na podporu vzťahov so Spojeným kráľovstvom a jeho občianskou spoločnosťou (podnikmi, odborovými zväzmi a ďalšími organizáciami), ako aj o orgáne, ktorý bude monitorovať dohodu o obchode a spolupráci.

Táto nová štruktúra, upravená nielen vzhľadom na uzavretú dohodu a nové vzťahy medzi EÚ a Spojeným kráľovstvom, ale aj na nedávny inštitucionálny vývoj v EK, zahŕňa:

  • monitorovací výbor EÚ – Spojené kráľovstvo, ktorý je politickým nástupcom monitorovacej skupiny Brexit a výborom EHSV, v ktorom si môžeme stanoviť vlastný program a priority s cieľom reagovať na potreby novej reality;
  • domácu poradnú skupinu EÚ v rámci Dohody o obchode a spolupráci medzi EÚ a Spojeným kráľovstvom, ktorá je inštitucionálnym pilierom občianskej spoločnosti v rámci obchodných vzťahov medzi EÚ a Spojeným kráľovstvom.

Teraz, keď sa budúce vzťahy medzi oboma partnermi riadia prostredníctvom takejto dôležitej a komplexnej dohody o partnerstve, je EHSV odhodlaný zohrávať svoju úlohu pri optimalizácii potenciálu tejto dohody, a to najmä vo vzťahu k občianskej spoločnosti v Spojenom kráľovstve. EHSV je odhodlaný udržiavať po brexite úzke kontakty s občianskou spoločnosťou Spojeného kráľovstva, podporovať dialóg a výmenu a začleniť organizácie občianskej spoločnosti do rozhodovacieho procesu v sociálnej oblasti, čím sa zabezpečí, že sa zachovajú silné hospodárske, sociálne a politické väzby, ktoré sa rozvinuli za viac ako polstoročie členstva Spojeného kráľovstva v EÚ.

The general objective of the information report will be to feed into the political dialogue between the EU and UK and promote a joint reflection on their future relationship. More specifically, the information report will be transmitted to the relevant services in the European Commission, EEAS, European Parliament, and Council, as the EESC's contribution to addressing issues arising from the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement and Northern Ireland Protocol.

UK civil society leaves no doubt that it wants a strong relationship with the EU
News

At its January plenary session, the EESC adopted an information report on the Implementation of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement, including the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland. The report shows that UK organised civil society is strongly in favour of a deeper and more constructive relationship with their EU counterparts and the EU as a whole. This could contribute to the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement and help maximise the potential of the EU-UK Trade Cooperation Agreement.

Sixth EU DAG meeting under the TCA

The 6th meeting of the EU DAG set up under the EU-UK TCA featured the participation of the UK DAG Chair, Mr. Sean McGuire, to discuss the recent Windsor Framework on Northern Ireland, the situation of both DAGs and future joint steps. A DG TRADE representative presented and discussed with members the technical aspects of Level Playing Field provisions.

5th EU DAG meeting under the TCA

The 5th meeting of the EU DAG set up under the EU-UK TCA was dedicated to the assessment of the first year of DAG work -including the recent EU-UK Civil Society Forum, to an update on the Trade Specialised Committees and to a structured discussion of selected issues and recommendations with a DG TRADE representative.

REX December Section meeting on EU-UK relations

The upcoming meeting of the Section for External Relations, which will take place on 20 December 2022, will be dedicated to EU-UK relations. The EU-UK Follow-up Committee was set up in March 2021 primarily to maintain and strengthen relations between UK and EU civil society organisations, and to monitor implementation of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement.

Fourth EU DAG meeting under the TCA
