  • In the opinion the EESC:

    • recommends two conceptual adjustments to this impressive financial support package: a) increasing the share of grants from the current proportion of 16% to 35% and b) increasing the minimum share of the total loan amount to be allocated to investments from 25% to 35%;

    • suggests that the Plan should allocate enough investment in research and development (R&D) in order to support the transition to the new model of economic growth based on higher value added and productivity;

    • draws attention to the importance of calibrating the Plan to Moldova's local and regional development needs as an indispensable condition for balanced and sustainable development across the country;

    • considers that proper funding should be provided for creating and ensuring the proper functioning of the economic and social committee in the Republic of Moldova, in line with the formal request from the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova, the Confederation of Employers and Civil Society Organisations.

  • High-level officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS), members of the European Parliament (EP), and a representative from the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) convened in Kiev for the 3rd Association Exchange Forum. Together they discussed recent achievements and shared experiences, best practices and lessons learnt regarding AAs, institutional set-ups, implementation monitoring issues and civil society involvement. Dr. Istvan Komoroczki, EESC chairman of the EU-Georgia Civil Society Platform from the Employers Group, also took part in the Forum.

  • The third meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform (CSP), held on 6 March in Brussels, also discussed the planned extension of Ukrainian hydroelectric plants on the upper Dniester which might have devastating consequences on the Moldovan population and environment.

     

  • The 15th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform will took place on 24 March 2025. During the meeting, the debate focused on assessing the state of play on the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the progresses towards opening negotiations on the Cluster 1 Fundamentals.

    The 14th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform took place on 15 November 2024. During the meeting, a debate focused on assessing the progresses of Moldova in the implementation of the Association Agreement and the European Commission's recommendations regarding its accession to the EU.

  • The 13th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform took place in Chisinau, Moldova, on 16 April 2024. During the meeting, a debate focused on assessing the progresses of Moldova in the implementation of the Association Agreement and the European Commission's recommendations regarding its accession to the EU.

    The Platform looked at progresses and challenges in the implementation of the commitments in the implementation of the justice sector reform, fighting corruption and de-oligarchization, as well as at the current consumer protection framework.

    A joint declaration, prepared by both sides, was discussed and adopted.

  • Civil society for an open democratic debate

    This is the 2nd campaign on fighting disinformation that the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising as part of its overall project on disinformation to be implemented with the help of civil society.

  • The first meeting of the EU-Moldova Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) in the new 2023-25 term, will take place on 8 December 2023. The DAG will elect a new chair, discuss the progress in implementing the Trade and Sustainable Development Chapter and make proposals for a work programme for the new term.
