The EU-Turkey Joint Consulta

Il-Kumitat Konsultattiv Konġunt UE-Turkija ġie stabbilit fl-1995, u l-mandat tiegħu joriġina mill-Ftehim ta’ Assoċjazzjoni bejn l-UE u t-Turkija. Huwa magħmul minn membri tal-KESE u membri li jirrappreżentaw l-organizzazzjonijiet tas-soċjetà ċivili (imsieħba soċjali u organizzazzjonijiet oħra tas-soċjetà ċivili) fit-Turkija.

L-għan ewlieni tal-Kumitat Konsultattiv Konġunt (JCC) huwa li jissorvelja t-triq tat-Turkija lejn l-UE u li jadotta rakkomandazzjonijiet indirizzati lill-Gvern tat-Turkija u lill-istituzzjonijiet tal-UE. Ir-rwol tal-JCC huwa wkoll li jagħti lir-rappreżentanti tal-organizzazzjonijiet tas-soċjetà ċivili Torok il-possibbiltà li jsiru midħla tal-proċess ta’ konsultazzjoni fl-UE, kif ukoll li jippermetti lir-rappreżentanti mill-UE li jsiru jafu aħjar l-istrutturi soċjali u l-impatt ekonomiku u soċjali tar-riformi fit-Turkija.

Il-JCC jiddiskuti firxa wiesgħa ta’ suġġetti, fosthom il-kooperazzjoni bejn it-Turkija u l-UE f’diversi oqsma bħall-migrazzjoni, l-enerġija, l-intrapriżi ż-żgħar u ta’ daqs medju u t-taħriġ vokazzjonali. Suġġetti reċenti tal-laqgħat tal-JCC inkludew it-titjib u l-modernizzazzjoni tal-unjoni doganali bejn l-UE u t-Turkija, disparitajiet reġjonali fit-Turkija, l-integrazzjoni tal-persuni b’diżabbiltà fis-soċjetà, in-nisa u l-impjieg, kif ukoll id-drittijiet tat-trejdjunjins.

tive Committee (JCC) was established in 1995 and its mandate comes from the EU-Turkey Association Agreement. It is composed of members from the EESC and members representing civil society organisations (social partners and other civil society organisations) in Turkey.

The main purpose of the JCC is to monitor Turkey's path towards the EU, and to adopt recommendations for the attention of Turkey's government and the EU institutions. The role of the JCC is also to enable representatives of Turkish civil society organisations to become acquainted with the consultation process in the EU, as well as allowing EU representatives to familiarise themselves with the social structures and the economic and social impact of the reforms in Turkey.

The JCC discusses a wide range of topics, including cooperation between Turkey and the EU in different areas such as migration, energy, small and medium-sized enterprises and vocational training. Recent topics of JCC meetings have included the enhancement and modernisation of the EU-Turkey customs union, regional disparities in Turkey, the integration of people with disabilities in society, and women and employment, as well as trade union rights.
