The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Dne 1. října se Evropský hospodářský a sociální výbor (EHSV) oficiálně připojil k Evropské alianci pro suroviny (ERMA). Činnost této aliance zahájila Evropská komise dne 29. září 2020 a jejím cílem je posílit odolnost a strategickou autonomii, pokud jde o dodávky kritických surovin pro průmysl a společnost EU. Alianci ERMA v současné době tvoří více než 500 členů z EU i z dalších zemí.
S ohledem na práci EHSV spojenou s přípravou stanoviska CCMI 177 požádala ERMA Výbor, aby se oficiálně zapojil coby pozorovatel. Tímto úkolem byl předsednictvem EHSV pověřen Andrés Barceló Delgado (ES-I). Pan Delgado byl pozorovatelem v ERMA jmenován s ohledem na svou předchozí práci na několika stanoviscích EHSV týkajících se surovin. Pan Barceló Delgado bude své působení v alianci koordinovat s podporou Norberta Klugeho (DE-II) a Kęstutise Kupšyse (LT-III).
