Isabelle Le Galo Flores

Secretary-General of the European Economic and Social Committee

Isabelle Le Galo Flores was appointed Secretary-General of the European Economic and Social Committee on 16 January 2024 for a five-year mandate.
A seasoned leader with more than 23 years of cross-sector experience, she has built a distinguished career spanning the corporate, non-profit, and philanthropic spheres. Her expertise lies at the intersection of communication, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and empowerment strategies, with a consistent focus on trust-building and fostering innovative public–private alliances.
Educated in mathematical engineering at Polytech Clermont and political science at Sciences Po Paris, Isabelle has applied her multidisciplinary background to pressing global challenges—ranging from sustainable food systems and medicine to intergenerational justice, youth development, diversity, and democratic regeneration.
From 2014 to 2023, she led the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in Spain, a philanthropic organisation founded by the Danone heirs. Under her stewardship, the newly created foundation became a pioneer in cultural democracy, civic arts, sustainable food policy, and cooperative transitions, significantly advancing European philanthropy.
Her leadership and impact have earned her recognition as one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in Spain, as well as prestigious fellowships with the Aspen Institute, Acumen, and the BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network. She has also served on the boards of leading cultural and philanthropic institutions, including the Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, the Spanish Association of Foundations, and the Aspen Institute Spain.
Fluent in both the corporate and civic worlds, Isabelle embodies a multicultural and cross-sectoral leadership style rooted in impact management, institutional cooperation, and inclusive empowerment.
Born in 1974, she holds both French and Spanish nationality.
