EGSO u Europi održava odnose sa socijalnim partnerima i organizacijama civilnog društva na zapadnom Balkanu, u istočnom susjedstvu, u državama EFTA-e koje su članice EGP-a, odnosno u Islandu, Lihtenštajnu i Norveškoj, te u Ujedinjenoj Kraljevini.

Odbor za praćenje zapadnog Balkana – trajno unutarnje tijelo EGSO-a – glavni je instrument za koordinaciju aktivnosti EGSO-a u toj regiji. Forum civilnog društva zapadnog Balkana, koji se održava svake dvije godine, spada u rad tog Odbora za praćenje.

EGSO također bilateralno surađuje sa zemljama zapadnog Balkana koje su započele pregovore o pristupanju i s Turskom putem specijaliziranih tijela osnovanih na temelju sporazuma o pridruživanju između tih zemalja i EU-a. Svrha je tih zajedničkih savjetodavnih odbora uključiti socijalne partnere i organizacije civilnog društva u praćenje pretpristupnog procesa i procesa reformi koji bi mogli dovesti do članstva u EU-u. Svako od tih tijela sastoji se od jednakog broja članova iz EGSO-a i partnerske zemlje i obično se sastaje jednom ili dvaput godišnje.

EGSO je također osnovao Odbor za praćenje istočnog susjedstva, unutarnje tijelo nadležno za jačanje odnosa s civilnim društvom u zemljama te regije, odnosno Armeniji, Azerbajdžanu, Bjelorusiji, Gruziji, Moldaviji i Ukrajini.

Glavni mehanizmi suradnje s Armenijom, Gruzijom, Moldavijom i Ukrajinom su platforme civilnog društva koje organizacijama civilnog društva iz EU-a i partnerskih zemalja omogućuju praćenje provedbe sporazuma EU-a s tim zemljama i izradu preporuka za nadležna tijela. Povrh toga, Ukrajina i Moldavija postale su zemlje kandidatkinje 2022.

Kad je riječ o Bjelorusiji i Rusiji, razvijaju se odnosi s onim organizacijama civilnog društva koje još slobodno djeluju, od kojih je većina smještena na teritoriju EU-a. EGSO smatra da je važno održavati otvoren dijalog dok se čeka da u budućnosti zavladaju bolji uvjeti.

Europski gospodarski prostor (EGP) okuplja države članice EU-a i tri države EFTA-e (Island, Lihtenštajn i Norvešku) na unutarnjem tržištu na kojem se roba, usluge, kapital i osobe slobodno kreću. EGSO je član Savjetodavnog odbora za Europski gospodarski prostor, u kojem se s predstavnicima socijalnih partnera iz država EFTA-e koje su članice EGP-a raspravlja o pitanjima od zajedničkog interesa.

Naposljetku, u okviru EGSO-a djeluje i Odbor za praćenje EU-a i Ujedinjene Kraljevine čija je zadaća pratiti odnose između EU-a i Ujedinjene Kraljevine Velike Britanije i Sjeverne Irske iz perspektive civilnog društva. Taj se odbor prvenstveno bavi provedbom Sporazuma o povlačenju Ujedinjene Kraljevine iz EU-a i Protokola o Irskoj i Sjevernoj Irskoj, o kojima raspravlja s organizacijama civilnog društva iz Ujedinjene Kraljevine, kao i provedbom Sporazuma o trgovini i suradnji između EU-a i Ujedinjene Kraljevine, u vezi s kojim surađuje s Unutarnjom savjetodavnom skupinom EU-a uspostavljenom u okviru tog ugovora.

  • Hearing on how to involve civil society in EU Member States when ratifying trade agreements

    In recent years, EU trade policy has become a true issue of debate in the civil society at national level: that shows the need to bring trade policy closer to EU citizens. EU Member States have different existing national structures, procedures and consultation methods, as well as ratification processes; however, citizens from most countries not always seem to be able to fully express their voices in national debates on trade policy. The objective of the event was that of a) assessing and examining the different kinds of consultation procedures that exist in the Member States; b) exploring how civil society and consultative structures, wherever they exist, are informed or consulted on negotiations and implementation of trade agreements, and c) promoting the experience of the EESC in the domain of the EU trade policy.

  • The Civil Society Platform complements the political bodies existing within the framework of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, and it allows civil society organisations from both sides to monitor the implementation process and prepare their recommendations to the relevant authorities both in Georgia as well as in the European Union.

  • 26th meeting of the European Economic Area Consultative Committee

    The members of the Committee discussed the latest developments in EEA as well as EU/EFTA issues. The Consultative Committee adopted two resolutions on:

    • the social aspects of the Mobility Package ("Europe on the move")
    • the work-life balance

    The 3rd meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform will take place on 8-9 November 2016 in Kyiv. During the meeting, a debate will be held assessing the state of play in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, and two reports, prepared by both sides, will be discussed and adopted – on labour market regulation with a focus on the adaptation of Ukrainian labour legislation to the EU legislation, and on anti-discrimination legislation and practice with regard to the rights of vulnerable groups in the context of the Association Agreement. A Joint Declaration will beadopted at the end of the meeting to be forwarded to the EU-Ukraine Association Council, the Association Committee, the Parliamentary Association Committee and other relevant bodies both in Ukraine as well as in the EU.

    The EU-Turkey Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee was established in 1995, based on the mandate given by the Ankara Agreement. This body is composed of members from the EESC and members representing organised civil society in Turkey. Its objective is to contribute to the dialogue among civil society organisations in Turkey and the EU and to issue reports and recommendations to the Turkish authorities and the EU institutions.

    Among the many topics to be discussed at this JCC meeting: The EU-Turkey relations, the rôle of Turkey in the refugee crisis, the Enhancement of EU-Turkey bilateral trade relations and modernisation of the Customs Union, the Blue Economy in the Western Mediterranean.

     

  • The Civil Society Platform complements the political bodies existing within the framework of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, and it allows civil society organisations from both sides to monitor the implementation process and prepare their recommendations to the relevant authorities both in the Republic of Moldova as well as in the European Union.

  • The 6th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform took place on 12 April 2018 in Brussels. During the meeting, a debate was held assessing the state of play in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, and two reports, prepared by both sides,on the role of salary and its impact on labour migration, and on climate change, were discussed and adopted.

  • This 10th JCC was held in Brussels and it tackled the following issues:

    • The current state of play in EU-Montenegro relations and the accession process
    • The digitalization as a tool for social and economic development
    • Public administration reform
    • Overview of the civil society in Montenegro
    • State of the media sector in Montenegro
    • The Joint Declaration from the meeting was adopted
  • The 5th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform took place on 15 November 2017 in Kyiv. During the meeting, a debate was held assessing the state of play in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, and two reports, prepared by both sides, were discussed and adopted – on the Progress in the implementation of Euro-integration reforms in the field of Science and Technology, and on The rights of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). A Joint Declaration was adopted at the end of the meeting to be forwarded to the EU-Ukraine Association Council, the Association Committee, the Parliamentary Association Committee and other relevant bodies both in Ukraine as well as in the EU.

  • EU-Russia Cooperation in the areas of Higher Education and Rural Development

    The 7th Joint Seminar of the European Economic and Social Committee and the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation (CCRF) will bring together EESC members and representatives of their Russian counterpart, representatives of the European Commission, experts and academics, to discuss cooperation in the areas of higher education and rural development. During four thematic sessions, participants will focus on EU-Russia cooperation in the fields of science, research and innovation; aligning higher education in the EU and Russia (the Bologna Process) and Erasmus+, on narrowing the gaps between rural and urban areas, and on cross-border cooperation for businesses and SMEs.
