Ο ρυθμός μετασχηματισμού προς την Ενεργειακή Ένωση πρέπει να επιταχυνθεί σημαντικά προκειμένου να επιτευχθούν οι στόχοι της ΕΕ για την ενέργεια και το κλίμα με ορίζοντα το 2050, αλλά η απουσία συνεκτίμησης της κοινωνικής και της οικονομικής κατάστασης των επιμέρους κρατών μελών εγκυμονεί κινδύνους, υποστηρίζει η ΕΟΚΕ σε πρόσφατη γνωμοδότησή της.
Η απουσία συνεκτίμησης των κοινωνικών και των οικονομικών συνθηκών που επικρατούν στα διάφορα κράτη μέλη θα μπορούσε να διακυβεύσει την κοινωνική αποδοχή των επενδύσεων και των μεταρρυθμίσεων που αποσκοπούν στην επιτάχυνση της ενεργειακής μετάβασης, επισημαίνει η ΕΟΚΕ.
Στη γνωμοδότηση, η οποία καταρτίστηκε από τον Lutz Ribbe και εγκρίθηκε κατά τη σύνοδο ολομέλειας του Μαρτίου, η ΕΟΚΕ καθορίζει τη θέση της όσον αφορά την έκθεση του 2020 σχετικά με την κατάσταση της Ενεργειακής Ένωσης και την αξιολόγηση των εθνικών σχεδίων για την ενέργεια και το κλίμα (ΕΣΕΚ), επισημαίνοντας ότι, αν και οι στόχοι του 2020 για την ενέργεια και το κλίμα έχουν επιτευχθεί σε μεγάλο βαθμό, αυτό δεν θα πρέπει ωστόσο να οδηγήσει σε εφησυχασμό.
Οι στόχοι για τα επόμενα 30 έτη, αρχής γενομένης από τη δεκαετία του 2020, πρέπει να είναι πολύ περισσότερο φιλόδοξοι και να θέτουν πραγματικά τους πολίτες της Ευρώπης στο επίκεντρο της Ενεργειακής Ένωσης.
Ο κ. Ribbe δήλωσε: «Ο ενεργειακός μετασχηματισμός τίθεται σε κίνδυνο όταν οι πολιτικοί υπόσχονται τη συμμετοχή μεγάλων τμημάτων της κοινωνίας, αλλά στην πραγματικότητα δεν λαμβάνουν σοβαρά υπόψη αυτήν την υπόσχεση και δεν την υλοποιούν». (mp)
