The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

Pokud chceme splnit cíle EU v oblasti energetiky a klimatu do roku 2050, je třeba výrazně zvýšit tempo realizace energetické unie. Mohlo by však být nebezpečné přehlížet při tom sociální a hospodářskou situaci v jednotlivých členských státech, uvádí EHSV v nedávném stanovisku.
Nedostatečné zohlednění sociálních a hospodářských podmínek v jednotlivých členských státech by mohlo ohrozit společenské přijetí investic a reforem zaměřených na urychlení transformace energetiky, zdůrazňuje EHSV.
Ve stanovisku přijatém na březnovém plenárním zasedání, které vypracoval Lutz Ribbe, představil EHSV svůj postoj ke zprávě o stavu energetické unie za rok 2020 a posouzení vnitrostátních plánů v oblasti energetiky a klimatu, přičemž uvedl, že ačkoli energetické a klimatické cíle pro rok 2020 byly z velké části splněny, neměli bychom se spokojit pouze s tím.
Cíle na příštích 30 let, počínaje 20. léty 21. století, musí být mnohem ambicióznější a skutečně učinit obyvatele Evropy ústředním prvkem energetické unie.
„Transformaci energetiky ohrožuje, pokud politika slibuje účast velkých částí společnosti, ve skutečnosti však tento slib nebere vážně a nenaplňuje jej,“ uvedl Lutz Ribbe. (mp)
