The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Ak máme splniť ciele EÚ v oblasti energetiky a klímy do roku 2050, tempo transformácie smerom k energetickej únii sa musí výrazne zvýšiť. Mohlo by však byť nebezpečné prehliadať sociálnu a hospodársku situáciu v jednotlivých členských štátoch, tvrdí EHSV vo svojom nedávnom stanovisku.
Ak sa nezohľadnia sociálne a hospodárske okolnosti v jednotlivých členských štátoch, mohla by sa ohroziť sociálna akceptácia investícií a reforiem zameraných na urýchlenie energetickej transformácie.
V stanovisku, ktoré vypracoval Lutz Ribbe a ktoré bolo prijaté na marcovom plenárnom zasadnutí, EHSV vyjadruje svoj postoj k správe o stave energetickej únie za rok 2020 a k posúdeniu národných energetických a klimatických plánov (NEKP). Konštatuje, že hoci sa ciele v oblasti energetiky a klímy do roku 2020 vo veľkej miere splnili, nemalo by to viesť k uspokojeniu.
Ciele na nasledujúcich 30 rokov, počnúc týmto desaťročím, musia byť oveľa ambicióznejšie a stredobodom energetickej únie sa musia skutočne stať Európania.
„Energetická transformácia je ohrozená aj vtedy, ak politika sľubuje účasť veľkých častí spoločnosti, ale v skutočnosti tento sľub neberie vážne a nerealizuje ho,“ dodal na záver Lutz Ribbe. (mp)
