The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Politika súdržnosti je kľúčom k prekonaniu krízy spôsobenej ochorením COVID-19, dosiahnutiu klimatickej neutrality do roku 2050 a zníženiu rozdielov v Európe. V nedávnom stanovisku EHSV upozorňuje, že najvážnejšou výzvou pre túto politiku v blízkej budúcnosti je vojna na Ukrajine.
V snahe pomôcť utečencom a zabezpečiť Ukrajine európsku integráciu treba konať rýchlo. EHSV vo svojom stanovisku zdôrazňuje, že je jednoznačne za skoré pripojenie Ukrajiny k EÚ, a vyzýva, aby sa v tomto smere upravili súvisiace finančné nástroje.
Výbor konkrétne navrhuje vytvorenie samostatného fondu EÚ na podporu povojnovej obnovy a rozvoja. Stanovisko prijaté na májovom plenárnom zasadnutí analyzuje oznámenie Európskej komisie o jej správe Súdržnosť v Európe do roku 2050.
Správa bola zverejnená dva týždne pred ruskou inváziou na Ukrajinu, a preto nebrala do úvahy jej dôsledky. Spravodajca Krzysztof Balon uviedol, že „z krátkodobého a strednodobého hľadiska je najväčšou výzvou pre politiku súdržnosti ruská agresia, ktorá je v skutočnosti aj aktom agresie voči Európskej únii“. Pomocný spravodajca Gonçalo Lobo Xavier doplnil, že „politika súdržnosti naďalej ostáva základným nástrojom na oživenie a odolnosť európskeho hospodárstva, pričom osobitný dôraz by sa mal klásť na MSP“.
