The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

A kohéziós politika kulcsfontosságú a Covid19-válság leküzdéséhez, a klímasemlegesség 2050-ig történő eléréséhez és az Európán belüli egyenlőtlenségek csökkentéséhez. Egy a közelmúltban megfogalmazott EGSZB-vélemény arra figyelmeztet, hogy a belátható jövőben a legkomolyabb kihívást az ukrajnai háború jelenti.
Gyorsan kell cselekedni a menekültek megsegítése és Ukrajna európai integrációjának biztosítása érdekében. Véleményében az EGSZB azt is hangsúlyozza, hogy határozottan támogatja Ukrajna haladéktalan uniós csatlakozását, és kéri, hogy ennek megfelelően igazítsák ki a kohéziós politikát és a hozzá kapcsolódó pénzügyi eszközöket.
Konkrétan azt javasolja, hogy hozzanak létre egy külön uniós alapot a háborút követő helyreállítás és fejlesztés megkönnyítésére. A májusi plenáris ülésszak során elfogadott vélemény az Európai Bizottság „Kohézió Európában 2050-ig” című jelentéséről készült közleményt elemzi.
Az említett jelentés két héttel azelőtt került közzétételre, hogy Oroszország megtámadta Ukrajnát, így nem vehette figyelembe a háború következményeit. Krzysztof Balon előadó elmondta: „Rövid és középtávon a legkomolyabb kihívást a kohéziós politika számára az Ukrajna elleni orosz agresszió jelenti, amely voltaképpen az Európai Unió elleni agressziónak is minősül.” Gonçalo Lobo Xavier társelőadó pedig hozzátette: „A kohéziós politika továbbra is az európai gazdaság helyreállításának és rezilienciájának alapeleme, és különös hangsúlyt kell helyeznie a kkv-kra.” (tk)
