The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Portugalská umelkyňa Ana Carvalho prezentuje svoju tvorbu na výstave Afrika v Lisabone, v ktorej zachytáva prítomnosť a vplyv africkej kultúry v hlavnom meste Portugalska, zatiaľ čo africký umelec José Pereira pôsobiaci na Kapverdách propaguje vo svojich fotografiách mierové spolunažívanie, akceptáciu rozdielnosti a solidaritu na výstave pod názvom Ubuntu.
EHSV otvoril 2. marca spoločnú výstavu fotografií Afrika – EÚ na online podujatí, na ktorom sa zúčastnil podpredseda pre komunikáciu Cillian Lohan, predseda monitorovacieho výboru AKT – EÚ Carlos Trindade a obaja fotografi. Inaugurácia sa uskutočnila na schôdzi monitorovacieho výboru AKT – EÚ, stáleho orgánu, ktorý je súčasťou sekcie EHSV pre vonkajšie vzťahy.
Ako uviedol pán Trindade, „keďže kultúra je vyjadrením spoločných hodnôt a vzájomnej náklonnosti komunity so spoločnými záujmami, cieľom tejto kultúrnej aktivity je zdôrazniť význam, ktorý EHSV pripisuje nadchádzajúcemu samitu EÚ – Afrika a zároveň upozorniť na hlboko zakorenené prepojenie oboch kontinentov. To je aj dôvod, prečo sme túto online inauguráciu zaradili do programu našej schôdze.“
Spoločná výstava fotografií bude v plnom rozsahu virtuálna a prístupná online od 1. do 31. marca 2021.
