The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

L'artista portoghese Ana Carvalho presenta la mostra Africa a Lisbona, che illustra la presenza e l'impatto della cultura africana a Lisbona, mentre l'artista africano José Pereira, di Capo Verde, presenta la mostra Ubuntu, nella quale promuove una forma di coesistenza pacifica, l'accettazione delle differenze e la solidarietà.
Il 2 marzo, il CESE ha inaugurato la mostra fotografica congiunta Africa-UE nell'ambito di un evento virtuale che ha visto la partecipazione, tra l'altro, di Cillian Lohan, vicepresidente responsabile della comunicazione, di Carlos Trindade, presidente del comitato di monitoraggio ACP-UE, e dei due fotografi. L'inaugurazione ha avuto luogo durante la riunione del comitato di monitoraggio ACP-UE, un organo permanente facente parte della sezione Relazioni esterne del CESE.
Come ha dichiarato Trindade, "Poiché la cultura esprime i valori condivisi e gli affetti di una comunità con interessi comuni, l'obiettivo di questa attività culturale è mettere in evidenza l'importanza che il CESE attribuisce al prossimo vertice UE-Africa, richiamando l'attenzione sui profondi legami esistenti tra i due continenti. È anche per questo motivo che abbiamo integrato l'inaugurazione online della nostra riunione.
