The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Η καλλιτέχνης Ana Carvalho από την Πορτογαλία παρουσιάζει την έκθεση η Αφρική στη Λισαβόνα (Africa in Lisbon), η οποία απεικονίζει την παρουσία και τον αντίκτυπο του αφρικανικού πολιτισμού στη Λισαβόνα, ενώ ο Αφρικανός καλλιτέχνης José Pereira, από το Πράσινο Ακρωτήριο, παρουσιάζει την έκθεση Ubuntu, προωθώντας έναν τρόπο ειρηνικής συνύπαρξης, αποδοχής των διαφορών και αλληλεγγύης.
Στις 2 Μαρτίου, η ΕΟΚΕ εγκαινίασε την κοινή έκθεση φωτογραφίας Αφρικής-ΕΕ σε μια διαδικτυακή εκδήλωση στην οποία συμμετείχαν οι Cillian Lohan, Αντιπρόεδρος Επικοινωνίας, Carlos Trindade, πρόεδρος της επιτροπής παρακολούθησης ΑΚΕ-ΕΕ, και οι δύο φωτογράφοι. Τα εγκαίνια πραγματοποιήθηκαν κατά τη συνεδρίαση της επιτροπής παρακολούθησης ΑΚΕ-ΕΕ, ενός μόνιμου οργάνου που ανήκει στο τμήμα Εξωτερικών Σχέσεων της ΕΟΚΕ.
Όπως δήλωσε ο κ. Trindade, «Δεδομένου ότι ο πολιτισμός εκφράζει τις κοινές αξίες και τα συναισθήματα μιας κοινότητας με κοινά συμφέροντα, σκοπός αυτής της πολιτιστικής εκδήλωσης είναι να υπογραμμίσει τη σημασία που αποδίδει η ΕΟΚΕ στην επερχόμενη Σύνοδο Κορυφής ΕΕ-Αφρικής, φέρνοντας ταυτόχρονα στο προσκήνιο τη βαθιά σύνδεση μεταξύ των δύο ηπείρων. Αυτός είναι και ο λόγος για τον οποίο τα διαδικτυακά εγκαίνια της έκθεσης πραγματοποιήθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια της συνεδρίασής μας».
Η κοινή έκθεση φωτογραφίας θα είναι πλήρως εικονική και προσβάσιμη μέσω διαδικτύου από 1 έως 31 Μαρτίου 2021.
