The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

A artista portuguesa Ana Carvalho apresenta a exposição Africa in Lisbon, que ilustra a presença e o impacto da cultura africana em Lisboa, enquanto o artista cabo-verdiano José Pereira apresenta a exposição Ubuntu, que promove uma coexistência pacífica, a aceitação das diferenças e a solidariedade.
Em 2 de março, o CESE lançou a mostra fotográfica conjunta África-UE num evento virtual que contou com a presença de Cillian Lohan, vice-presidente da Comunicação, Carlos Trindade, presidente do Comité de Acompanhamento UE-ACP, e dos dois fotógrafos. O lançamento teve lugar no âmbito da reunião do Comité de Acompanhamento UE-ACP, um órgão permanente que faz parte da Secção das Relações Externas do CESE.
Nas palavras de Carlos Trindade, «uma vez que a cultura exprime os valores partilhados e os afetos de uma comunidade com interesses comuns, o objetivo desta atividade cultural é destacar a importância que o CESE atribui à próxima Cimeira UE-África, pondo simultaneamente em evidência as raízes profundas que unem os dois continentes. Foi também por esta razão que quisemos integrar o lançamento em linha da exposição na nossa reunião.»
A mostra fotográfica conjunta será totalmente virtual e estará acessível em linha de 1 a 31 de março de 2021.
