The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Cezhraničné toky energie sú kľúčom k dodávkam elektriny a plynu do rôznych členských štátov EÚ. To znamená, že energetická infraštruktúra sa musí zmodernizovať prostredníctvom prepojení medzi susednými krajinami, aby sa zvýšila udržateľná energetická kapacita Únie.
V stanovisku, ktoré si vyžiadalo belgické predsedníctvo Rady EÚ a ktoré bolo prijaté na plenárnom zasadnutí 18. januára 2024, zaujal EHSV k tejto otázke jasný postoj.
EÚ by mala venovať osobitnú pozornosť rozvoju sietí a musia sa vynaložiť značné investície na stimuláciu európskeho hospodárstva a vytváranie kvalitných pracovných miest, ktoré budú ohľaduplné k životnému prostrediu.
„V EHSV sa domnievame, že na to, aby sa mohla dosiahnuť zelená transformácia a strategická energetická autonómia, sa budú musieť vykonať štrukturálne zmeny v energetickom systéme,“ uviedol predseda EHSV Oliver Röpke počas diskusie v súvislosti s prijatím stanoviska.
Belgická ministerka energetiky Tinne Van der Straeten zdôraznila, že prechod na čistú energiu, ktorý podnietila klimatická kríza, je v súčasnosti hospodárskou a bezpečnostnou nevyhnutnosťou a že prepojenia umožňujú vytvoriť flexibilnejší systém, ktorý by mohol vyvážiť geografické rozdiely vo výrobe veternej a slnečnej energie.
„Ambície Európy v oblasti energie z obnoviteľných zdrojov v súčasnosti presahujú jej plány v oblasti infraštruktúry, a preto potrebujeme túto transeurópsku infraštruktúru rýchlo dobudovať. A musí byť nákladovo efektívna, bezpečná, udržateľná a flexibilná,“ dodala ministerka. (mp)
