Οι διασυνοριακές ροές ενέργειας είναι καίριας σημασίας για την παροχή ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας και φυσικού αερίου στα διάφορα κράτη μέλη της ΕΕ. Τούτο σημαίνει ότι οι ενεργειακές υποδομές πρέπει να αναβαθμιστούν μέσω διασυνδέσεων μεταξύ γειτονικών χωρών, έτσι ώστε να αυξηθούν οι βιώσιμες ενεργειακές δυνατότητες της ΕΕ.
Με τη γνωμοδότηση την εκπόνηση της οποίας αιτήθηκε η βελγική Προεδρία του Συμβουλίου της ΕΕ και η οποία εγκρίθηκε κατά τη σύνοδο ολομέλειάς της στις 18 Ιανουαρίου 2024, η ΕΟΚΕ στέλνει σαφές μήνυμα για το θέμα αυτό.
Η ΕΕ θα πρέπει να δώσει ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στην ανάπτυξη του δικτύου και πρέπει να πραγματοποιηθούν σημαντικές επενδύσεις για την τόνωση της ευρωπαϊκής οικονομίας και τη δημιουργία ποιοτικών και φιλικών προς το περιβάλλον θέσεων εργασίας.
«Ως ΕΟΚΕ πιστεύουμε ότι, για να επιτευχθούν η πράσινη μετάβαση και η στρατηγική ενεργειακή αυτονομία, είναι θεμελιώδους σημασίας το ενεργειακό μας σύστημα να υποβληθεί σε δομική αλλαγή», δήλωσε ο Πρόεδρος της ΕΟΚΕ κ. Oliver Röpke, κατά τη διάρκεια της συζήτησης που πραγματοποιήθηκε ενόψει της έγκρισης της γνωμοδότησης.
Η δε υπουργός Ενέργειας του Βελγίου κ. Tinne Van der Straeten τόνισε ότι η μετάβαση σε μη ρυπογόνες μορφές ενέργειας, η οποία προέκυψε ως ζητούμενο λόγω της κλιματικής αλλαγής, αποτελεί πλέον επιτακτική ανάγκη για την οικονομία και την ασφάλεια. Επίσης, επισήμανε ότι η διασύνδεση έχει δημιουργήσει ένα πιο ευέλικτο σύστημα που θα μπορούσε να εξισορροπήσει τις γεωγραφικές διακυμάνσεις στην παραγωγή αιολικής και ηλιακής ενέργειας.
«Οι φιλοδοξίες της Ευρώπης όσον αφορά τις ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας υπερβαίνουν επί του παρόντος τα σχέδιά της ως προς τις υποδομές και, ως εκ τούτου, χρειαζόμαστε γρήγορα αυτές τις διευρωπαϊκές υποδομές· και, βεβαίως, αυτές θα πρέπει να είναι οικονομικά αποδοτικές, ασφαλείς, βιώσιμες και ευέλικτες», συμπλήρωσε η Βελγίδα υπουργός.
