The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Lai piegādātu elektroenerģiju un gāzi dažādām ES dalībvalstīm, būtiska nozīme ir pārrobežu enerģijas plūsmām. Tas nozīmē, ka enerģētikas infrastruktūra ir jāmodernizē, izmantojot starpsavienojumus starp kaimiņvalstīm, lai palielinātu Savienības ilgtspējīgas enerģijas jaudu.
ES Padomes prezidentvalsts Beļģijas pieprasītajā atzinumā, kas pieņemts 2024. gada 18. janvāra plenārsesijā, EESK pauž skaidru nostāju šajā jautājumā.
Eiropas Savienībai īpaša uzmanība būtu jāpievērš tīklu attīstībai, un ir jāveic ievērojami ieguldījumi, lai stimulētu Eiropas ekonomiku un radītu ļoti kvalitatīvas un vidi saudzējošas darbvietas.
“Mēs uzskatām, ka ir ārkārtīgi svarīgi veikt strukturālas izmaiņas mūsu energosistēmā, lai īstenotu zaļo pārkārtošanos un panāktu stratēģisku enerģētisko autonomiju,” EESK priekšsēdētājs Oliver Röpke sacīja debatēs, kas notika saistībā ar atzinuma pieņemšanu.
Beļģijas enerģētikas ministre Tinne Van der Straeten uzsvēra, ka pāreja uz tīru enerģiju, kas izriet no klimatiskās vajadzības, tagad ir ekonomikas un drošības pamatprasība un ka starpsavienojums rada elastīgāku sistēmu, kas varētu līdzsvarot vēja un saules enerģijas ražošanas ģeogrāfiskās atšķirības.
“Eiropas vērienīgie mērķi atjaunojamo energoresursu jomā pašlaik pārsniedz tās plānus infrastruktūras ziņā, tāpēc mums šī Eiropas mēroga infrastruktūra ir vajadzīga drīz. Un tai jābūt rentablai, drošai, ilgtspējīgai un elastīgai,” viņa teica. (mp)
