EU–Japan DAG 2025 Workshop: Artificial Intelligence’s impact on the workplace and as a driver for growth and competitiveness following the 6th Joint Dialogue with Civil Society

The 2025 EU–Japan Workshop explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the workplace and driving economic competitiveness. This hybrid event brought together EU and Japanese stakeholders to discuss AI’s role in transforming job roles, promoting innovation, and raising ethical and policy challenges. It also focused on how AI can support sustainable and inclusive growth in both regions.

Speakers included representatives from the European Commission, EU social partners, the Japanese business community, and academia. A technical expert in trade and the digital economy moderated the sessions.

This event was open to members of the EU Domestic Advisory Group (DAG), as well as civil society representatives, business and labor stakeholders, researchers, and policy makers from both the EU and Japan.

The day before, on 23 June, the members of the EU DAG for Japan participated in the 6th JDCS, an important platform set up by the Parties, to foster active engagement between civil society actors on both sides, providing advice and support in implementing the trade and sustainable development provisions of the EPA. The statement by the EU DAG as well as presentations given by civil society representatives from both the EU and Japan can be found below.
