  • Tematem konferencji była kondycja psychiczna i fizyczna młodych Europejczyków oraz rola NGO w jej wspieraniu. Wydarzenie zorganizowano w ramach polskiej prezydencji w Radzie UE z inicjatywy Ministry ds. Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego Adriany Porowskiej i Grupy Organizacji Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego EKES.

  • The EESC:

    • supports the proposal’s objective to ensure that all forms of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children, including those enabled or facilitated by technological developments, are criminalised;
    • emphasises a focus on the particularly vulnerable group of children with disabilities, who can become easy victims of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and cybercrimes;
    • calls for the international exchange of data relating to child sexual abuse and exploitation to be specifically regulated and for the possibilities for data retention to be expanded in all Member States with the development of an EU Research Centre.
  • The European Commission's proposal for a comprehensive European care strategy that should guarantee to all Europeans the possibility of receiving high quality healthcare and care service throughout their lifetime has been met with approval by the EESC

  • A steep rise in child and forced labour as well as continued exploitation of workers across the globe make EU action on decent work ever more urgent, according to an EESC hearing.

  • The Commission's initiatives on a European child guarantee and an EU Strategy on the rights of the child call on European and national policy-makers to work toward the common good of all children growing up in the EU. Ambitious and bold in their approach to ensuring a life free from any discrimination for each and every child, both initiatives have won the EESC's approval.

  • Thanks to their bold ambition to ensure a life free of any discrimination and intimidation for each and every child and to break down the cycle of disadvantage across generations, the EU's two new comprehensive initiatives on children's rights have been receiving positive reactions. However, there are concerns as to whether their implementation in the Member States will go as smoothly as hoped, an EESC hearing has found

  • The EESC is organising a hybrid public hearing on 28 May 2024 from 9:30 am to 1 pm.

    Its objective is to hear from policy makers, civil society organisations and social partners, about the importance of affordable community -based services and of a human rights approach to mental health care

    The outcomes of the hearing will feed into the EESC's opinion "Mental Health Community Services"
