The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

This conference in Lisbon is the fourth event on disinformation being hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) as part of its ongoing project aiming to fight disinformation with the help of civil society.
On 21 May 2025 the EESC will hold an online event on the link between trade policy and sustainability, with a particular focus on agri-food systems. Through panel discussions, EESC members, representatives of the European Commission and of civil society will exchange views on the role of reciprocity in achieving a fair green transition.
The EESC considers it important to create a well-functioning, prosperity-enhancing tax system that works for people and businesses and that fosters competitiveness. The different and recent legislative acts have been adding layers of legislation to the existing taxation framework, at the hearing the EESC will look into ways to simplify complex tax framework in the EU.
The EESC will hold an online event on Tuesday 20 May 2025 to discuss the EU wine policy package in which the Commission proposed to amend the relevant wine regulations to introduce targeted measures to help the sector manage production potential, adapt to changing consumer preferences and exploit new market opportunities.
Representatives of the two Domestic Advisory Groups (DAG) from the EU and Moldova, established under Chapter 13 on Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD) of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, held the eight joint meeting on 19 May 2025. The objective of the meeting was to prepare a set of recommendations for the Civil Society Forum, which took place on 22 May 2025.

The 10th Western Balkans Civil Society Forum took place in Montenegro on 13-14 May 2024. The forum was hold in Montenegro to encourage the country to fulfil its ambition of becoming the next EU member state by 2028 and to serve as a positive example for the rest of the region. This event will represent a significant contribution from organised civil society to the European Commission's 2025 Enlargement Package.
