During the meeting, the EU DAG discussed with a representative of the European Commission the outcome and follow-up of the last CTSD meeting, held on March 24th, as well as the Commission's annual report on the EU-Korea FTA that was presented in June. Presentations of the recent developments in the Republic of Korea were also made by representatives of the correspondent country desk oin the European Commission and the EEAS. The EP shadow rapporteur on the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Korea, Dr Joachim Schuster, MEP (S&D Group), presented the European Parliament resolution adopted on 18 May 2017 to the EU DAG.

During the meeting, the Commission representatives (DG TRADE) provided information concerning implementation of the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and its trade and sustainable development chapter. The EU DAG discussed also and adopted its two opinions foreseen for presentation at the EU-Korea Civil Society Forum: on implementation of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions and on green economy and free trade. Moreover, the EU DAG discussed and adopted its work programme for the years 2012-2013.

During the meeting, the EU DAG discussed with a representative of the European Commission the preparation for the meetings with Korea under the trade and sustainable development chapter, as well as about the current business environment in Korea and presentation of the white paper of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea. Preparations of the 6th meeting of the EU-Korea Civil Society Forum in Seoul were also discussed.

During the meeting, the Commission representatives (DG TRADE) provided information concerning implementation of the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and its trade and sustainable development chapter. On the latter, the Commission provided also information concerning preparations for the meeting with the Korean Government representatives planned for 11 September 2013. The EU DAG discussed also its contributions to discussion with the Korean counterparts at the labour workshop and EU-Korea Civil Society Forum scheduled for 12-13 September 2013 in Seoul. For this purpose, the Group prepared two positions: on labour standards and on green economy and trade.

During the meeting, the civil society representatives from the EU and the Republic of Korea, i.e. members of their Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs)  discussed the latest developments related to implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development chapter of the EU-Korea FTA, as well as relations between trade and green growth, and trade and labour rights respectively.

During the 6th EU-Korea Civil Society Forum (CSF), participants discussed labour standards with the ILO representative, including progress achieved by both Parties to the Agreement as well as the next steps in the ratification and effective implementation of the ILO fundamental and other up-to-date conventions. Both DAGs also exchanged information about the role of civil society in the EU and the Republic of Korea in the development and implementation of the climate change policy at national, EU and international level. They then adopted final conclusions.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and of the European External Action Service (EEAS) delivered presentations about the EU-Korea relations, in particular in the light of the outcomes of the EU-Korea Summit held in November 2013 in Brussels. In addition, representatives of the Commission (DG TRADE) provided information about implementation of the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and outcomes of the Trade Committee meeting from October 2013. The EU DAG discussed also  follow up to the 2nd EU–Korea Civil Society Forum and the seminar on labour rights which had taken place in Seoul on 12-13 September 2013.

During the meeting, the EU-Korea Civil Society Forum, bringing together members of the EU and Korea Domestic Advisory Groups (employers, workers and NGOs) discussed matters related to implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development chapter of the EU-Korea FTA. Particular attention was dedicated to issues, such as labour standards, liberalisation of trade in environmental goods, climate change policy and the Emission Trading System (ETS), as well as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

During the meeting, the Commission (DG TRADE) provided information on implementation of the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and its trade and sustainable development chapter. The EU DAG held also the first preparatory discussion before the EU-Korea Civil Society Forum. The Group discussed in this context its contribution on Corporate Social Responsibility.
