The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.
Lors de la 23e réunion, tenue en mode hybride, du groupe consultatif interne (GCI) de l’UE dans le cadre de l’accord de libre-échange (ALE) entre l’UE et la République de Corée, qui était la première réunion du GCI de l’UE depuis le Forum de la société civile avec les homologues coréens, tous les participants ont souligné l’importance de la ratification, par la République de Corée, de trois conventions fondamentales de l’OIT en avril 2021. Cette ratification par le gouvernement coréen envoie un message fort aux autres pays de la région asiatique, les incitant vivement à ratifier les conventions fondamentales de l’OIT à un stade précoce de leur engagement dans des négociations avec l’UE en vue de la conclusion d’un ALE.
Le 12 avril dernier, le Comité économique et social européen (CESE) a organisé la 7e réunion du forum de la société civile UE-Corée. Au cours de cette manifestation en ligne, des représentants de la société civile ont examiné plusieurs questions liées au travail, notamment les horaires de travail, le dialogue civil et l’état d’avancement de la mise en œuvre des normes et conventions internationales (OIT). Les participants ont également célébré le 10e anniversaire de l’entrée en vigueur de l’accord de libre-échange (ALE) entre l’UE et la Corée.
The 10th meeting of the EU Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) under the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA), will take place on 28 May 2026 at the EESC.
Building on the successful joint meeting held in December, this meeting will be organised together with the EU DAGs for Japan and Korea. The aim is to foster synergies, exchange best practices, and discuss cross-cutting issues relevant to all three DAGs.
Members of the three DAGs will exchange with the European Commission's DG TRADE on the state of play of the implementation of the respective TSD Chapters under the FTAs. Further discussions will include TSD in the digital economy, including AI governance and new forms of work, the implementation of ILO Conventions in Singapore, Korea and Japan, as well as the follow up of the Commission's Evaluation of the impact of EU's agreements on key environmental aspects, including the climate
During the meeting, the EU DAG will also exchange views on EU-Singapore relations and recent developments in Singapore, including their priorities, with Ambassador Heng Aik Yeow, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Singapore to the European Union.

The 11th EU-Korea Civil Society Forum (CSF) and Workshop took place on 8–9 September 2025 in Brussels. The event opened with a discussion on the benefits of social dialogue in the context of amplified trade diversification.
