Στις 26 Φεβρουαρίου, η Ευρωπαϊκή Οικονομική και Κοινωνική Επιτροπή (ΕΟΚΕ) διοργάνωσε διάσκεψη υψηλού επιπέδου με προσκεκλημένους κορυφαίους ειδήμονες σε θέματα πολιτικών αναπηρίας, οι οποίοι ανέλυσαν τη νέα συναφή στρατηγική της ΕΕ. Η εν λόγω στρατηγική είναι υπό κατάρτιση και αναμένεται να επηρεάσει βαθύτατα εκατομμύρια πολίτες της ΕΕ με αναπηρία σε όλες τις κοινωνικές εκφάνσεις κατά την επόμενη δεκαετία.

Members of the EU-Japan Follow-up Committee of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) visited Japan recently (27-31 January) to discuss the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) – in place since February 2019 – and to strengthen  cooperation with Japanese counterparts. The visit included a roundtable on the circular economy and the first EU-Japan Joint Dialogue with civil society under the EPA, with trade and sustainable development issues on the agenda.

[FR bientôt disponible] The European Economic and Social Committee has forcefully reiterated its call for a Multiannual Financial Framework of 1.3% of EU-27 gross national income (GNI) for the period of 2021-2027. The Committee called on the European Parliament to insist on a strong budget in its negotiations with the Council. This call comes at a crucial moment on the way towards an agreement on the next EU long-term budget, with the European Council addressing the issue again on 20 February.
