I když v poslední době došlo k řadě výrazných zlepšení a EU se letos podařilo dosáhnout rekordně vysokého indexu rovnosti žen a mužů, pro to, aby se ženám dostalo stejných práv jako mužům, je však stále třeba učinit mnohem více.
Evropský hospodářský a sociální výbor (EHSV) uspořádal na toto téma diskusi, která proběhla 25. října v rámci Evropského týdne genderové rovnosti, jejž každoročně pořádá Evropský parlament s cílem poukázat na to, že se EU soustavně snaží zaměřit ve svých právních předpisech na ženy prvořadou pozornost.
Situace v této oblasti se sice zlepšuje, stále však není ani zdaleka uspokojivá. Podle údajů, které tento týden zveřejnil Evropský institut pro rovnost žen a mužů (EIGE), doznal v roce 2023 index rovnosti žen a mužů v EU největšího meziročního zvýšení a EU dosáhla hodnoty 70,2 bodů.
Místopředsedkyně Evropského parlamentu Evelyn Regner upozornila, že na trhu práce přetrvává segregace a ženy pracují především v odvětvích s nižšími platy, zatímco u mužů je tomu naopak. Zdůraznila, že je nutné neprodleně odstranit genderové nerovnosti, zejména pak s cílem poskytnout všem rovné pracovní příležitosti. Evropská komisařka pro rovnost Helena Dalli vyzdvihla, co vše EU v uplynulých čtyřech letech udělala na ochranu práv žen – jde například o navržené právní předpisy týkající se platové diskriminace a zastoupení žen v řídících a dozorčích orgánech společností.
Předseda EHSV Oliver Röpke potvrdil, že je tato instituce odhodlána uplatňovat zásadu genderové rovnosti i nadále při veškeré své politické činnosti, a vyslovil se pro to, aby v jejím rámci zaujaly ženy více vedoucích pozic. EHSV má v úmyslu zúčastnit se i dalšího Evropského týdne genderové rovnosti a uspořádat v této souvislosti diskuse, v nichž se bude zabývat dopadem klimatické krize na genderovou rovnost, problematikou násilí páchaného na ženách a genderovou nerovností v přístupu na finanční trhy.
