Objective(s)
The objective of the Code is to provide a uniform basis for the evaluation of the quality, identity and authenticity of juices. It consists in a set of reference guidelines describing in detail the characteristic natural components of industrial processed fruits. Its aims are to represent the interests and promote the image of the European Fruit Juice Industry in all its contacts with EU Institutions and other relevant organisations and stakeholders, as well as providing, in collaboration with the European Quality Control System (EQCS), mechanisms and instruments securing safe and authentic goods in order to maintain and increase consumer confidence in the good and healthy image of fruit and vegetable juices and nectars.

    Problems that lead to the introduction of Self/Co-Regulation and the adoption of the Founding Act
    Underlining the fact that legislation does not cover in detail all aspects of the fruit juice processing and bottling chain and that legal provisions sometimes leave room for different interpretations, AIJN has developed different guidelines and codes, to complement legislation where necessary and to offer guidance for the application of key legislation.
