Na svojom septembrovom plenárnom zasadnutí prijal EHSV stanovisko z vlastnej iniciatívy o technológiách na dekarbonizáciu priemyslu EÚ.
V európskom klimatickom predpise sa stanovil ambiciózny cieľ zníženia emisií skleníkových plynov do roku 2030 a potvrdil cieľ dosiahnuť do roku 2050 klimatickú neutralitu. V záujme splnenia týchto cieľov bude potrebné zaviesť technológie na odstraňovanie oxidu uhličitého. Tieto technológie sú na dosiahnutie cieľov Parížskej dohody tým potrebnejšie, čím rýchlejšie a prísnejšie sa pristupuje k znižovaniu emisií skleníkových plynov.
„Dekarbonizácia si v nasledujúcich 30 rokoch bude vyžadovať hĺbkovú transformáciu priemyselných činností,“ upozornil spravodajca stanoviska Andrés Barceló Delgado. „Hoci mnohé technológie s nízkymi emisiami už existujú, pokrok v tejto oblasti je stále nedostatočný. Na rozšírenie a rozsiahle zavedenie týchto prelomových technológií budeme potrebovať ambiciózne technologické plány a EÚ musí podporovať inovácie prostredníctvom fondov v oblasti klímy a inovácie.“
Podľa toho, kedy sa tieto technológie zavedú, môžu slúžiť na dva rôzne ciele: 1) urýchliť dosiahnutie čistých nulových emisií kompenzáciou emisií z odvetví, kde sa ťažšie znižujú, a tým zvýšiť pravdepodobnosť, že sa nepresiahnu stanovené limity nárastu teploty, alebo 2) znížiť globálne otepľovanie pod tieto limity po ich dočasnom prekročení.
„Na zelenú transformáciu v priemysle je preto nevyhnutný rozvoj technológií spolu so vzdelávaním a rekvalifikáciou pracovnej sily. Sociálny dialóg na všetkých úrovniach – európskej, národnej aj regionálnej – by mal pomáhať zvyšovať povedomie, akceptáciu a podporu pre zelenú a spravodlivú transformáciu tohto odvetvia. Budovanie kapacít a projekty na vymedzenie kľúčových zručností budú nevyhnutné na to, aby sa zabezpečila účinná transformácia priemyslu, pri ktorej sa na nikoho nezabudne,“ zdôraznila spolupravodajkyňa stanoviska Monika Sitárová.
