Euroopan talousalue (ETA) yhdistää EU:n jäsenvaltiot ja ETA-alueeseen kuuluvat kolme EFTA-valtiota (Islanti, Liechtenstein ja Norja) sisämarkkinoiksi, joihin sovelletaan samoja perussääntöjä. Näiden sääntöjen tavoitteena on mahdollistaa tavaroiden, palvelujen, pääoman ja henkilöiden vapaa liikkuvuus ETA-alueella avoimessa kilpailuympäristössä. Euroopan talousalueesta tehty sopimus tuli voimaan 1. tammikuuta 1994.

ETA:n konsultatiivinen komitea mainitaan ETA-sopimuksessa (96 artikla), ja se perustettiin vuonna 1994.

    The 24th meeting of of the European Economic Area Consultative Committee took place in Vaduz (Liechtenstein) on 19-20 May 2016.

     

    The members of the Committee discussed the latest developments in EEA and well as EU/EFTA issues. The Consultative Committee adopted two resolutions on the following topics:

    • Labour Mobility in the EEA
    • Better regulation to support businesses and protect workers in the EEA
