The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

Asepresident Giulia Barbucci osales Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee nimel koos teiste ELi institutsioonide esindajatega, sealhulgas Euroopa Parlamendi presidendi Roberta Metsolaga 29. mail Brüsselis toimunud 42. korda toimunud 20 km jooksul.
Giulia Barbucci arvates on see üritus väga oluline, eriti praegu. „Populaarne 20 km Brüsseli jooks, kus osales 33 000 Euroopa elanikku, sh ELi institutsioonide esindajad, saatis tugeva rahu pooldava sõnumi sellest, eet me toetame üheskoos Ukrainat,“ ütles ta.
Jooksul osales sel aastal üle 33 000 inimese 137 rahvusest, nende seas 800 ELi institutsioonide töötajat meeskonnast „Running for Europe“. Nagu ka 2021. aastal, võitis jooksu belglane Amaury Paquet, kes läbis 20 km pikkuse vahemaa ajaga 1:00:01.
Selle aasta ürituse eesmärk oli näidata, et Euroopa Liit toetab Ukrainat. Ürituse jaoks kogutud raha annetatakse Ukraina skautide organisatsioonile, et pakkuda toitu, ravimeid, magamiskotte ja muid vajalikke vahendeid ning koordineerida psühholoogilist tuge konfliktist mõjutatud inimestele ja kogukondadele.
