The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Podpredsednica Giulia Barbucci se je v imenu EESO 29. maja skupaj s predstavniki drugih institucij EU, vključno s predsednico Evropskega parlamenta Roberto Metsola, udeležila 42. dvajsetkilometrskega teka po Bruslju.
Barbucci je menila, da je ta dogodek zelo pomemben, zlasti zdaj. Dejala je, da je „uspešen dvajsetkilometrski tek po Bruslju, v katerem je sodelovalo 33 000 evropskih državljanov in predstavnikov institucij EU, poslal jasno sporočilo za mir in enotnost z Ukrajino.“
Letos se je teka udeležilo več kot 33 000 ljudi 137 različnih narodnosti in 800 sodelavcev iz evropskih institucij iz ekipe „Tečemo za Evropo.“ Tako kot leta 2021 je zmagal Belgijec Amaury Paquet, ki je dvajsetkilometrsko razdaljo pretekel v eni uri in eni sekundi.
Letošnji dogodek je bil namenjen izkazovanju enotnosti Evropske unije z Ukrajino. Zbrana sredstva na tem dogodku bodo donirana Nacionalni organizaciji ukrajinskih skavtov, ki bo poskrbela za hrano, zdravila, spalne vreče in druge potrebščine ter organizirala psihološko podporo za ljudi in skupnosti, ki jih je prizadel konflikt.
