The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Καλωσήρθατε στο Grassroots View, το podcast της Ευρωπαϊκής Οικονομικής και Κοινωνικής Επιτροπής. Σε αυτό το επεισόδιο θα ασχοληθούμε επισταμένα με την επικείμενη διάσκεψη της COP 28 στο Ντουμπάι, όπου συναθροίζεται η διεθνής κοινότητα για να αντιμετωπίσει το πιεστικό ζήτημα της κλιματικής αλλαγής. Σήμερα φιλοξενούμε κάποιες διορατικές φωνές: την ειδικευμένη σε κλιματικά ζητήματα δημοσιογράφο Anna Gumbau, την εκπρόσωπο των νέων στην αντιπροσωπεία της ΕΟΚΕ Diandra Ní Bhuachalla, τον ιδρυτή και διευθύνοντα σύμβουλο της Sustainable Public Affairs Willem Vriesendorp και την εκπρόσωπο του Γερμανικού Ινστιτούτου Διεθνών Υποθέσεων και Υποθέσεων Ασφάλειας Jule Könneke.
Ξεκινάμε με την οπτική της Anna Gumbau σχετικά με την αμφιλεγόμενη επιλογή του Ντουμπάι ως τόπου διεξαγωγής της διάσκεψης, λόγω των προκλήσεων που αντιμετωπίζουν οι δημοσιογράφοι κατά την κάλυψη τέτοιων κρίσιμων γεγονότων. Η Diandra Ní Bhuachalla προβάλλει τον επείγοντα χαρακτήρα που έχει το άκουσμα της φωνής των νέων στις συζητήσεις για το κλίμα και συμμερίζεται τις ελπίδες για μια συνθήκη με στόχο τη μη διάδοση των ορυκτών καυσίμων. Ο Willem Vriesendorp τονίζει την ανάγκη να πρωτοστατήσουν οι επιχειρήσεις στον τομέα της βιωσιμότητας, ενώ η Jule Könneke διερευνά τις διαστάσεις της πολιτικής για το κλίμα που σχετίζονται με την ασφάλεια και τον ρόλο της κοινωνίας των πολιτών.
