The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Velkommen til EØSU's podcast Græsrøddernes holdning. I denne episode dykker vi dybt ned i den kommende COP28 i Dubai, hvor verden mødes for at løse det presserende problem med klimaforandringer. Med os har vi nogle personer med stor viden på området, nemlig journalist Anna Gumbau, EØSU's ungdomsdelegerede Diandra Ní Bhuachalla, stifter af og administrerende direktør for SustainablePublicAffairs Willem Vriesendorp og Jule Könneke fra det tyske institut for internationale og sikkerhedsmæssige spørgsmål.
Vi starter med Anna Gumbaus perspektiv på det kontroversielle valg af Dubai som arrangør og kigger nærmere på de udfordringer, som journalister oplever, når de skal dække vigtige begivenheder som denne. Diandra Ní Bhuachalla kaster lys over, hvor vigtigt det er at lade de unge komme til orde i klimadebatten, og deler håbet om en traktat om ikkespredning af fossile brændstoffer. Willem Vriesendorp understreger, at virksomhederne bør gå forrest, når det handler om bæredygtighed, mens Jule Könneke kigger nærmere på sikkerhedsdimensioner af klimapolitikken og civilsamfundets rolle.
