The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

Opatrenia EÚ v reakcii na krízu cien energie by mali chrániť všetky domácnosti a podniky, ktoré čelia veľkým problémom pri platení účtov za energiu. To bolo hlavným posolstvom stanoviska na tému Hospodárska politika eurozóny na rok 2023, ktoré EHSV prijal na januárovom plenárnom zasadnutí.
EHSV podporuje návrh Európskej komisie na ochranu najzraniteľnejších osôb, ktorý je založený na dvojstupňovom modeli. To znamená, že až do určitej úrovne spotreby energie bude zraniteľný spotrebiteľ platiť cenu, ktorá je nižšia ako trhová cena.
Výbor však upozorňuje, že táto politika by sa mala vzťahovať tak na osoby pod hranicou chudoby, ako aj na osoby z nižšej strednej triedy, pre ktoré bude tiež ťažké platiť účty za energiu za trhové ceny.
Spravodajca stanoviska Petru Sorin Dandea uviedol, že „zima 2022/2023 spôsobila v EÚ veľké problémy. Ak majú byť zraniteľné domácnosti pred krízou cien energie naozaj chránené, politika Komisie založená na dvojstupňovom modeli musí byť inkluzívna.“
Výbor súhlasí s návrhom Komisie, aby členské štáty v snahe predísť rušeniu podnikov uplatnili dočasný krízový rámec štátnej pomoci a apeluje na ne, aby využili všetky možné prostriedky na pomoc najmä malým a stredným podnikom.
Európska centrálna banka použila nástroje menovej politiky, aby obmedzila infláciu. Tieto kroky však budú fungovať iba vtedy, ak sa zladia s fiškálnou politikou krajín eurozóny. (mp)
