EESRK veikla, susijusi su rytų kaimynais, apima Armėniją, Azerbaidžaną, Baltarusiją, Gruziją, Moldovą ir Ukrainą. Pagrindinis EESRK tikslas santykiuose su Europos rytų kaimynais – stiprinti ryšius su pilietinės visuomenės organizacijomis regione ir įtraukti juos į dialogą tiek su jų nacionalinės politikos formuotojais, tiek su ES organizuota pilietine visuomene.

Pagrindiniai bendradarbiavimo su Gruzija, Moldova ir Ukraina mechanizmai yra pilietinės visuomenės platformos, papildančios politinius organus, veikiančius pagal ES asociacijos susitarimus su šiomis šalimis. Platformos leidžia tiek ES, tiek ir šalies partnerės pilietinės visuomenės organizacijoms stebėti įgyvendinimo procesą ir parengti savo rekomendacijas susijusioms valdžios institucijoms.

ES pusėje šios platformos apima EESRK narius ir didžiųjų Europos pilietinės visuomenės tinklų atstovus, o šalies partnerės – platų pilietinės visuomenės organizacijų spektrą. Narystė platformose grindžiama visų interesų grupių (darbdavių organizacijų, profesinių sąjungų ir įvairių interesų grupių) atstovavimo pusiausvyra.

Europos ekonomikos ir socialinių reikalų komitete  Europos rytų kaimynų tęstinio darbo komitetas buvo įsteigtas 2004 m. kaip specialus organas, atsakingas už santykius su Rytų kaimynystės šalių pilietine visuomene. Tęstinio darbo komitetas paprastai posėdžiauja keturis kartus per metus ir jo nariai aktyviai dalyvauja Rytų partnerystės veikloje, pavyzdžiui, Rytų partnerystės daugiašalėse platformose ir Rytų partnerystės pilietinės visuomenės forume.

    The 6th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform took place on 13 February 2020 in Chisinau in Moldova. During the meeting, a debate was held assessing the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. Social aspects of the implementation of the Association Agreement and Moldovan initiatives in justice sector and fighting corruption were discussed. Platform members also took stock of the Association Agenda EU-Moldova 2017-2019.
