The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Euroopa Majandus- ja Sotsiaalkomitee tööandjate rühma esimehe Stefano Mallia avaldus
ELi tööandjad toetavad Brexiti kokkulepet ja õnnitlevad südamest Euroopa Komisjoni läbirääkimismeeskonda, mille eesotsas oli kindlakäeline Michel Barnier. Ettevõtjad püüavad hoomata 1200 leheküljelise kaubanduslepingu tähendust ja paluvad seetõttu kohanemisperioodi, mis aitaks neil uue olukorraga tutvuda.
Euroopa tööandjatel on heameel korrakohase Brexiti saavutamise ja ühtse turu terviklikkuse säilimise üle. Isegi kui kaupadele ei kehtestata tollimakse ega kvoodipiiranguid, kaasneb bürokraatia terve rea uute tolli- ja regulatiivsete kontrollide, sealhulgas päritolureeglite ja rangete kohaliku sisendi nõuete kontrolliga, mis võib aeglustada protsesse. Aeganõudev on ka tarneahelate kohanemine uue tegelikkusega.
Just nende muutustega toimetulekuks vajavad ettevõtted kohanemisaega. Kõigi ettevõtete, eelkõige VKEde toetamiseks kokkuleppe rakendamisel tuleb luua tugev süsteem, näiteks Brexiti SOLVIT.
Samal ajal on selge, et tuleb naasta läbirääkimistelaua taha, et lisada kokkuleppesse teenuste sektor, tagada andmete sujuv liikumine ELi ja Ühendkuningriigi vahel ning kvalifikatsioonide vastastikune tunnustamine.
Kui soovime Euroopa ja Ühendkuningriigi tihedaid sidemeid säilitada, peame suhete hoidmisel vaeva nägema. Ühendkuningriigist ei saa kunagi suvaline kolmas riik. Kokkulepe peab saama tulevase koostöö kindlaks aluseks mitmes meie konkurentsitingimusi tugevalt mõjutavas valdkonnas, ulatudes kliimamuutustest digiülemineku, teadusuuringute ja innovatsiooni ning standarditeni. Kuid see kokkulepe on tegelikult alles algus.
Eelkõige kodanikuühiskond ja tööandjad peavad võitlema avatud kaubanduskoridoride eest ja looma selleks vajaliku struktuuri. (dv/kr)
