Environmental, social and governance ratings
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, that is, investing which takes ESG factors into account when making investment decisions (also referred to as sustainable investments), is becoming an important part of mainstream finance. ESG ratings provide an opinion on a company or financial instrument’s sustainability profile or characteristics, exposure to sustainability risks or impact on society and/or the environment.
Against this background, on Thursday 5 October 2023, starting at 15:00, the ECO section organises a public debate which will discuss the Commission´s legislative proposal to improve the reliability, comparability and transparency of ESG ratings, and the EESC´s related policy proposals.
Speakers confirmed:
- Tomás Nasarre, Economic & Financial Counsellor, Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU.
- Sven Gentner, Head of Unit "Corporate reporting, audit and credit rating agencies", Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (FISMA), European Commission
The debate is accessible via webstream. No registration is needed.
