The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

V rubriki „Vprašanje za...“ ta mesec gostimo Jaroslawa Pietrasa, nekdanjega generalnega direktorja Sveta Evropske unije, ki je z nami spregovoril o vprašanju, o katerem se danes največ govori in razmišlja, in sicer o energetski krizi.
Jaroslaw Pietras je trenutno gostujoči profesor v Centru za evropske študije Wilfried Martens v Bruslju in College of Europe v Bruggeju. Od leta 1990 do 2006 je bil v rodni Poljski državni sekretar na ministrstvu za finance, državni sekretar za evropske zadeve in vodja urada odbora za evropsko integracijo. Med letoma 2008 in 2020 je bil generalni direktor Sveta Evropske unije. Njegovo delo je zajemalo širok nabor področij, med drugim tudi energijo. G. Pietras, ki ima doktorat iz ekonomije z Univerze v Varšavi, je avtor številnih publikacij o EU, trajnosti in trgovinskih vprašanjih. Bil je tudi Fulbrightov štipendist in član odbora možganskega trusta Bruegel (2008–2011).
