Tranziția către o economie circulară este o prioritate pe agenda CESE ca soluție de combatere a crizei climatice și de protejare a planetei noastre. Este o oportunitate excelentă pentru societatea civilă, deoarece poate contribui la:
Modelul liniar de producție și consum („luăm‑fabricăm‑aruncăm”), care încă domină economia noastră în prezent, nu numai că duce la irosirea resurselor, ci și subminează lupta împotriva schimbărilor climatice. Spre deosebire de economia liniară, o economie circulară este un concept regenerativ și restaurator care se axează pe crearea și păstrarea valorii economice, abordând provocările globale de mediu, cum ar fi schimbările climatice, pierderea biodiversității și poluarea, generând, în același timp, beneficii economice.
Vestea bună este că tranziția circulară este deja o realitate la fața locului. Părțile interesate din societatea civilă, inclusiv întreprinderile, sindicatele, mediul academic și comunitățile de cunoaștere, organizațiile de tineret, precum și ONG-urile și alte grupuri de interese creează și pun în aplicare numeroase inițiative circulare la nivel local și regional. Catalizarea soluțiilor circulare și a poziției de lider a părților interesate relevante reprezintă cea mai bună oportunitate pentru Europa de a accelera tranziția către o economie circulară.
Ca atare, Platforma europeană a părților interesate privind economia circulară, o inițiativă comună a CESE și a Comisiei Europene, este o platformă creată în 2017 pentru a reuni comunitatea economiei circulare din Europa. Platforma bazată pe contribuția părților interesate sprijină tranziția Europei către o economie circulară prin promovarea dialogului, schimbul de cunoștințe și de bune practici.

In March 2017, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) launched a joint European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP). The platform’s 24-member coordination group has now been chosen and the list of participants published.
In March this year, the European Commission (EC) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) launched a joint European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. The 24 members forming the coordination group of the platform have now been selected and are preparing for their first meeting on 22 November.
With this debate, the ECO section is providing ex-ante input to the European Commission, in preparation for the upcoming 2023 strategic foresight cycle that wants to shed light on the strategic decisions needed to ensure a socially and economically sustainable Europe with a stronger role in the world in the coming decades.
On 27 and 28 February 2023, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the European Commission will host the 2023 European Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference in hybrid mode. The sixth Conference will bring together Europe's biggest circular economy stakeholders to focus on the role of the circular economy in driving sustainable recovery, open strategic autonomy and resilience.
This interactive conference with experts in circular economy competences and youth, policy-makers, academics and business representatives will explore the outputs from the CESCY project.
On 1 and 2 March 2022, this annual conference will bring together Europe's largest network of stakeholders in the Circular Economy. The focus this year is on the path to a new normal: "sustainable products for sustainable consumption."
