During its mission to Japan, the EU-Japan Follow-up Committee relied on its former work in order to further strengthen its cooperation with its well-established network of organisations.
Several bilateral meetings with economic and social stakeholders and Japanese authorities took place, and a roundtable discussion was organised on "Circular economy – what needs to be done?".
In relation to the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the Follow-up Committee paved the way for the work of the Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs) under the trade and sustainable development chapter of the EPA and took part in the first Joint Dialogue with civil society in the framework of the same agreement. It also measured the preliminary benefits of the agreement as a whole.
