The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

Lielu daļu darba laika esmu pavadījusi kopā ar David Gippini, un diezgan daudzas presei paredzētas intervijas esmu gatavojusi ar viņa palīdzību. Pirmo reizi viņu satiku 2018. gadā, un viņš man atstāja nopietna cilvēka iespaidu. Viņa sagatavotie materiāli vienmēr atbilda mērķim un bija labi nostrādāti. Informāciju viņš analizēja ļoti ātri. Ārpus darba es viņu iepazinu kā atvērtu cilvēku, kas neskopojas ar savu laiku. Viņam piemīt galīciešiem raksturīga ironija. Man šķiet, ka mēs sapratāmies ļoti labi. Mums ir gadījušās arī dažas draudzīgas domstarpības; es esmu iekļaujošas valodas piekritēja, savukārt Davide nostāja ir akadēmiskāka, un viņam nepatika dažas atkāpes no valodas likumiem. Mēs bieži ieslīgām stundām garās bagātinošās un prasīgās diskusijās. Man viņam jāpateicas par to, kā viņš man ir palīdzējis noslīpēt un pilnveidot vairākus manus tekstus.
Man ir skumji, ka viņš no mums atvadās, bet es viņam novēlu labu veiksmi jaunajā dzīves posmā. Tomēr man nav šaubu, ka Preses nodaļai viņa pietrūks. Viņa pietrūks arī man.
