To turn solidarity with Ukraine into concrete action, the EESC is joining the European Parliament's "civil society hub" initiative for Ukraine, allowing the NGO Promote Ukraine to use part of its premises at rue de Trèves 74, along with logistical equipment.
Οκτώ συγκεκριμένες προτάσεις υποβλήθηκαν στην αρμόδια για θέματα αξιών και διαφάνειας Αντιπρόεδρο της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής Věra Jourová από μαθητές δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης από όλη την Ευρώπη. Οι μαθητές συμμετείχαν στην εικονική εκδήλωση για τη νεολαία «Η δική σου Ευρώπη, η δική σου φωνή!» (YEYS2022) με τίτλο: Η αλήθεια για τα ψέματα. Οι νέοι ανθίστανται στην παραπληροφόρηση. Η εκδήλωση διοργανώθηκε από την Ευρωπαϊκή Οικονομική και Κοινωνική Επιτροπή (ΕΟΚΕ) στις 31 Μαρτίου και την 1η Απριλίου 2022.

Τα μέλη εξέφρασαν την αλληλεγγύη τους προς την Ουκρανία και υπογράμμισαν τον ρόλο που διαδραματίζει η κοινωνία των πολιτών για να βοηθήσει τον ουκρανικό λαό και τους Ουκρανούς πρόσφυγες.

Η διάσκεψη με θέμα «Γυναίκες στην αγορά εργασίας», που διοργάνωσε η ΕΟΚΕ επ’ ευκαιρία του εορτασμού της Παγκόσμιας Ημέρας της Γυναίκας, πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 8 Μαρτίου υπό τη σκιά του πολέμου.Οι συμμετέχοντες απέτιναν φόρο τιμής στις αξιοθαύμαστες γυναίκες της Ουκρανίας για το σθένος, τη γενναιότητα και την ανθεκτικότητά τους.Επισημάνθηκαν διάφορες πτυχές της ισότητας των φύλων, όπως η ανάγκη να αυξηθεί η συμμετοχή των γυναικών στην αγορά εργασίας, ιδίως όσον αφορά τις νέες ψηφιακές και οικολογικές θέσεις εργασίας, να διευκολυνθεί η γυναικεία επιχειρηματικότητα, να βελτιωθούν οι υπηρεσίες φροντίδας και η ισορροπία μεταξύ επαγγελματικής και προσωπικής ζωής, αλλά και να αντιμετωπιστούν τα έμφυλα στερεότυπα και η παρενόχληση στον χώρο εργασίας.
In a spontaneous debate initiated by the EESC President Christa Schweng during the February plenary session, the members of the European Economic and Social Committee condemned the unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. EESC members expressed their solidarity with the Ukrainian people and called for firm actions at both EU and national level in a spirit of unity in this dramatic time.
