The Moravian-Silesian Region as a testing ground

The conference "Beyond coal: from black to green economy? The Moravian-Silesian Region as a testing ground", organised by the EESC Employers' Group on 10 October 2022, under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, aims at identifying concrete solutions for a gradually coal-free future for Europe, distilling lessons and good practices with the help of various high-level speakers, representing business, national and regional authorities and EU institutions.

Fair minimum wages for all - 2022

The Workers' Group organised an extraordinary meeting to discuss ways to ensure that the new EU legislation on minimum wages works as a strong instrument to safeguard workers' rights. Several panels were held to cover the various aspects of the new directive and its implementation, as well as the way ahead.

The Western Balkans Civil Society High-Level Conference

The Western Balkans Civil Society High-Level Conference was held in Prague on September 16 and brought together EESC members, civil society representatives from the countries of the Western Balkans, as well as Czech officials and members of organised civil society.

Second ECO study group meeting and workshop in Prague

The Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO) will hold on 22 July in Prague its study group meeting in the context of the exploratory opinion requested by the Czech Presidency: Thematic partnerships under the Ljubljana agreement (ECO/588). Mr. Radim Sršeň, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, will participate at this meeting.

Healthy planet for healthy people

The EESC will host an online event in the context of the High-Level Political Forum on sustainable development (HLPF) whose theme this year is "Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Ms. Anna Pasková, Director of Department of Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of the Environment of Czech Republic, will be opening the event.

Lucie Studničná took part in the conference on the Czech Presidency 2022: Priorities and Expectations

Lucie Studničná, Czech member of the EESC and Head of the ČMKOS International Department, took part in a panel discussion on "Europe as a task". This discussion focused on the questions: Has the government devoted sufficient time and space to preparing for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union? What are the ambitions and what specific goals should the Czech Republic aim to achieve during their Presidency? How do major personalities associated with Czech European politics and the 2009 Czech Presidency of the Council evaluate the priorities that have been set? The conference took place on 27 June in Prague at the European House. The event was organised by the Association for European Policy, in cooperation with EURACTIV.cz and the European Commission's Representation in the Czech Republic.

ECO section meeting

The Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO) invited Mr. Jiří Palán, Head of Unit "Ecofin Council, Economic and Monetary Union, financial perspective" at the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU, to its meeting to present the priorities of the upcoming Czech presidency of the Council EU in the policy areas of the ECO section.
