The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Evropský hospodářský a sociální výbor přijal stanovisko z vlastní iniciativy Jak může plán EU na podporu oživení přispět k sociálně přijatelné dekarbonizaci a digitalizaci odvětví náročných na zdroje a energii. Vybídl v něm Komisi a další orgány EU, aby zajistily rovné podmínky na jednotném trhu, a zabránily tak nevyváženým výhodám pro průmysl závisejícím na přístupu jednotlivých členských států.
Průmyslová výroba v Evropě byla těžce zasažena pandemií a evropské podniky, jež působí v odvětvích náročných na zdroje a energii a které se již předtím nacházely v obtížné situaci, nyní čelí této další, neočekávané krizi. Zároveň se tyto podniky musí urychleně přizpůsobit cílům evropské politiky, a prostřednictvím provádění Zelené dohody pro Evropu tak řešit změnu klimatu.
„Průmyslové transformace bude dosaženo pouze tehdy, bude-li provedena transformace energetiky. Zásadní význam pro spravedlivou transformaci v souladu s cílem uhlíkové neutrality mají výzkum a inovace a řádné provádění plánů EU na podporu oživení. Za tím účelem budou mít klíčový význam dostatečné a cenově dostupné nízkouhlíkové zdroje energie umožňující nízkouhlíkovou průmyslovou výrobu,“ uvedl zpravodaj Andrés Barceló Delgado.
„Umožnit spravedlivou transformaci odvětví náročných na zdroje a energii je zcela stěžejní. Nástroj EU pro oživení a související národní plány pro oživení a odolnost musí vést k vytvoření a zachování kvalitních pracovních míst, zapojit sociální partnery a podpořit přechody na trhu práce prostřednictvím změny kvalifikace a prohlubování dovedností,“ řekl spoluzpravodaj Enrico Gibellieri.
