The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

EESK:s ungdomsevenemang Ditt Europa, din mening! (YEYS) 2021 kommer att ta formen av FN:s klimatkonferens (COP) med elever som ger sin syn på hur klimatkrisen kan tacklas och hur man kan närma sig målet för klimatneutralitet innan 2050.
Sedan 2010 har evenemanget årligen lockat över 100 elever och mer än 30 lärare från hela Europa till Bryssel för att diskutera högaktuella frågor. YEYS 2021 kommer att äga rum den 18–19 mars 2021 och helt och hållet anordnas online på grund av covid-19. Temat är Vårt klimat, vår framtid!
33 skolor kommer att delta i denna debatt av och för unga, en från var och en av EU:s 27 medlemsstater och från de fem kandidatländerna (Nordmakedonien, Serbien, Turkiet, Montenegro och Albanien) samt en från Storbritannien, vilket är ett uttryck för EESK:s föresats att fortsättningsvis stå nära det brittiska civilsamhället.
Syftet med det tolfte YEYS-evenemanget är att lyssna på aktuella synpunkter från eleverna om hur man kan bekämpa klimatkrisen och komma närmare målet för klimatneutralitet innan 2050.
Resultaten av YEYS 2021 kommer att delas med miljöpolitiker internationellt och föras fram vid konferenser runtom i Europa, bland annat vid Europaparlamentets europeiska ungdomsevenemang EYE som anordnas i slutet av maj 2021.
Medan eleverna är upptagna med sin klimatkonferens kommer lärarna att delta i informationssessioner online. Dessa anordnas i samarbete med EU:s tre största institutioner (Europaparlamentet, Europeiska kommissionen och Europeiska unionens råd) och syftar till att bredda kunskapen om EU:s arbete och resurser för unga och utbildning.
Jämsides med YEYS kommer EESK att driva en kampanj på sociala medier, Instagram och Facebook, med målet att öka medvetenheten om klimatförändringen och att uppmuntra unga att välja en hållbar livsstil. (cl)
