The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

I samband med att Portugal tar plats vid EU:s roder och flyttar upp den sociala agendan bland prioriteringarna står EESK värd för en utställning på nätet med verk av den portugisiska konstnären Maria Reis Rocha, som hyllar mänskliga kontakter och solidaritet.
Utställningen Hand in Hand omfattar en serie illustrationer och korta videor av Maria Reis Rocha (https://www.mariareisrocha.com/), som rör brännande sociala frågor såsom psykisk hälsa, social delaktighet och omvandling, god utbildning, allmän tillgång till hälso- och sjukvård, kampen mot fattigdom och rasism samt barns rättigheter.
Dessa frågor är nära kopplade till prioriteringarna för det portugisiska ordförandeskapet (ett motståndskraftigt Europa, ett socialt Europa, ett grönt Europa, ett digitalt Europa och ett Europa i världen), som tar vid den 1 januari 2021.
På grund av covid-19-pandemin hålls utställningen digitalt, i en anda av kulturellt nyskapande. Den kommer att pågå från den 15 januari till den 15 februari 2021 på https://www.eesc.europa.eu/sv/agenda/our-events/events/hand-hand (ck)
