Participation and civil dialogue after the European elections

A vibrant civil society is a key part of and safeguard for our democracies. Given the many challenges facing democracy, it is crucial to send clear signals to civil society and ensure that it plays its pivotal role in the future of the European Union. With the European elections behind us, what are the next steps to achieve this?

On 8 November from 9:40 to 11:00, the EESC’s Associational Life Category will discuss this question as part of a public debate on Participation and civil dialogue after the European elections, with participation of Héléne Fritzon, MEP and vice-chair of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D Group) in the European Parliament.

The debate will build on the proposals for an open, transparent and regular dialogue with civil society organisations, which were put forward by the Civil Society Organisations’ Group and Civil Society Europe in an open letter. The debate is being organised in cooperation with Civil Society Europe, which called for better civic space and civil dialogue as part of its campaign Civil society for EU.

More information can be found in the agenda.

The debate will be a hybrid event. For in-person and online participation prior registration is required. The registration period has ended. You can still follow the event live via webstreaming on our website in English.
