The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Podpredsedníčka Giulia Barbucci sa 29. mája zúčastnila v mene EHSV na 42. ročníku bežeckých pretekov 20 km cez Brusel spolu so zástupcami ostatných inštitúcií EÚ, medzi ktorými bola aj predsedníčka Európskeho parlamentu Roberta Metsola.
Giulia Barbucci považuje toto podujatie za mimoriadne dôležité, at o najmä v súčasnom kontexte. „Na populárnom behu 20 km cez Brusel sa zúčastnilo 33 000 európskych občanov a zástupcov inštitúcií EÚ. Preteky vyslali silné posolstvo na podporu mieru a solidarity s Ukrajinou,“ vyhlásila.
Tento rok sa na štart postavilo viac ako 33 000 ľudí zo 137 rôznych krajín, ako aj 800 členov tímu „Running for Europe“. Rovnako ako v roku 2021 aj tento raz vyhral preteky Belgičan Amaury Paquet, ktorý zabehol 20 km za 1:00:01 hod.
Tohtoročné podujatie bolo prejavom solidarity Európskej únie s Ukrajinou. Získané finančné prostriedky budú darované Národnej organizácii skautov Ukrajiny a poslúžia na nákup potravín, liekov, spacích vakov a iných nevyhnutných potrieb a tiež pomôžu pri koordinácii psychologickej podpory určenej osobám a komunitám, ktoré zasiahol vojnový konflikt.
