Solidarity with the Belgian trade unions and the mobilisation in Brussels on 23 November 2026

We, at the EESC Workers’ Group, express our full solidarity with the Belgian trade unions CSC-ACV, FGTB-ABVV and SYNOVA, and with all those mobilising in Brussels on 23 November to defend workers’ rights, social justice and a fairer society. This mobilisation, bringing together trade unions and a broad range of civil society organisations and citizens, sends a powerful message that our future must be built together.

Across Belgium and throughout Europe, workers and families are struggling with the rising cost of living, from housing, energy and food to healthcare, education and public transport. We share your concern that wages and social benefits must keep pace with living costs, and that the burden of economic adjustment must not fall disproportionately on workers, pensioners and the most vulnerable.

Together, across sectors and borders, we must defend our social model, strengthen democracy and ensure that solidarity remains a cornerstone of our societies. We will not passively accept the future; we will build it together!

In solidarity,
