Background
The proposal simplifies and streamlines EU technical rules and testing procedures for motor vehicles to reduce regulatory burdens and costs for the automotive industry, while maintaining safety and environmental standards. It aims to support competitiveness, accelerate the uptake of electric and small affordable vehicles, and avoid market fragmentation as the sector adapts to electrification, digitalisation and new technologies.
