Civil Society Week: People, Democracy, Resilience - Our Future, 2-5 March 2026
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is holding for a third year the Civil Society Week: People, Democracy, Resilience - Our Future from 2-5 March 2026, at the EESC premises, Jacques Delors Building (rue Belliard 99, B-1040 Brussels).
The 2026 edition will evolve around two pillars:
- the European Economic and Social Committee's overarching priority for the new mandate of the EESC President Seamus Boland, delivering on: a Union of opportunities, a Union of security and a Union of resilience;
- three of the European Commission’s key priorities:
- Supporting people and strengthening our societies;
- Protecting our democracy, upholding our values;
- Delivering together and preparing our Union for the future;
Each day will be dedicated to the priorities and featuring high-level debates, participatory sessions and interactive workshops.
The opening session starts on Monday 2 March at 10.00 at the JDE building, room 62 with:
- Welcome by EESC President Séamus Boland
- Keynote speech by Dr. Katherine Zappone, former Irish Minister for Children and Youth Affairs
Apart from the EESC Liaison panels, the event is bringing together The European Citizens' Initiative Day on Tuesday 3 March. Here the organisers of the European Citizens' Initiative who are setting the scence.
